Online Store 2.0 themes use JSON templates, which list which sections appear on a page and in what order. This is why the theme editor can save your changes without touching the underlying code.
What are app blocks?
App blocks let a Shopify app add its content to a section that you place yourself. This is useful because you control where an app appears, and removing the app does not leave stray code in your theme.
